Hub lead

Professor Tom Craig, professor of community and social psychiatry, Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London and consultant psychiatrist, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.

His research has included studies of mental illness in homeless young people and other disadvantaged people in inner cities, and more recently he has evaluated the success of early intervention services for people with first episode psychosis. Professor Craig's clinical activities focus on developing innovative community‐based psychiatric services to supplement and enhance hospital care.

Hub deputy lead

Dr Niruj Agrawal, consultant neuropsychiatrist based at Atkinson Morley Regional Neurosciences Centre, St George’s Hospital London employed by South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust. He is also a Honorary Senior Lecturer at St George’s University of London.

He provides a tertiary neuropsychiatry service to the population South West London and Surrey and the Wolfson Neurorehabilitation Centre, Wimbledon. He has particular interest in the neuropsychiatric consequences of traumatic brain injuries; cognitive disorders and neuropsychiatric disorders associated with neurological illnesses.

He is Vice Chair of the neuropsychiatry section of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. He is Director of R&D at the South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust. He is a member of the Examinations Committee of the Royal College of Psychiatrists involved in setting and monitoring of theory and clinical postgraduate exams in Psychiatry in the UK. His research interests include depression in neurological disorders, neuropsychiatric conditions in neurological settings and neuropsychiatric service provision.

Primary care lead

Dr Henk Parmentier is a GP with a special interest in mental health.

He has been active in primary care research groups within London, and was a lead GP with the former STaRNet (South London Primary Care Research Network), facilitating and conducting primary care research. He is the UK representative and treasurer of the WONCA (World Organisation of National Colleges, Academies and Academic Associations of General Practitioners/Family Physicians) Working Party on Mental Health, and a co‐editor of the Mental Health in Family Medicine Journal. He is a visiting research fellow at the Section of Primary Care Mental Health in the Department of Health Service and Population Research at the Institute of Psychiatry. He is a member of the executive committee of PRIMHE (Primary Care Mental Health and Education), a charity that helps primary care professionals and staff to achieve and deliver best standards of mental health care. Henk has been the South London and South East Hub’s primary care lead since 2005.

Social care lead

Dr Nick Hervey, head of social care, Southwark Integrated Adult Mental Health Service, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM).

Nick is a social worker by professional background. His is a joint appointment between the London Borough of Southwark and SLaM and he leads on developing services for people with mental health problems and their family members, on equalities, adult protection, mental health promotion, volunteering and the implementation of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act. He previously worked in services for people with eating disorders.

He previously worked for some years within the eating disorders service, and has also had a great deal of involvement with the development of forensic services. Nick has a special interest in the history of psychiatry, having completed a PhD on the History of the Nineteenth Century Lunacy Commissioners, and chairs the Trustees of the Maudsley and Bethlem Museum and Archives. He is co‐author of Masters of Bedlam and has authored a number of articles on the history of psychiatry.
